Addie G. Stroud Women’s Missionary Society

The , (WMS) is one of the most important organizations in he African Methodist Episcopal Church. The WMS mission statement emphasizes “we are called to strengthen our faith and sent to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by service and witness in the world.” The WMS is committed to the mission of the church, intentional about helping one another engage in actions and ministry that support God’s plan for the church, community, and the world. The contributions of the WMS are invaluable, both financially and in terms of volunteer labor. They serve as an example of dedication and compassion to other church members. Most importantly, they embody the very spirit of Christianity, helping to bring God’s message of love and hope to all people. The Women’s Missionary Society plays a vital role in shaping the Christian community for generations to come.

The Addie G. Stroud Women’s Missionary Society initiates and coordinates most of the outreach projects for the church. Ongoing projects include providing food at the AME Men’s Empowerment Shelter monthly, providing meats to the Catholic Outreach Parish Food Pantry monthly to supplement meals, distribute blankets and toiletries to area Women shelters, provide monthly financial stiped to the sick and shut-in, and provide gift cards monthly to Backpack Buddy students in a local middle school to fight food insecurity. The Addie G. Stroud WMS is one of fifteen churches in the Martha McCauley Area. The society supports and implements mission projects at the Area, Conference, District and Connectional levels.

Class Leaders

The class leader system is the part of the African Methodist Episcopal Church that connects each member to the local church. Each local congregation of the church has its membership divided into small groups, called classes. Each class has a leader who is appointed by the pastor. The class leader’s job is to look after his/her members by visiting, calling, praying for the welfare of each person on their class. The class leader is to nurture their members in all aspects of their Christian growth. They report directly to the pastor and official board regarding the needs and concerns of their members. The class leader is to see that each member is dutiful in their support of the church. The class leader is called to be a spiritually knowledgeable church member who can teach, inspire, and motivate the members to attend and participate in church events.

Golden Jewels Senior Ministry

The Golden Jewels meet every Wednesday at 10:00 AM on Zoom. Our meetings feature chair exercises, consumer information, various mental and physical activities, special home activity challenges, and lots of laughter and fun!
Please join us each week for an hour of connecting with other seniors and friends who are part of our community.

Lay Organization

The African Methodist Episcopal Church’s Lay Organization is an essential force for good in the church and in the wider community. This organization is free from the constraints of outside influence or control, allowing it to operate independently and with a singular focus on promoting the welfare, growth, and success of all members of the AME Church. What’s more, this organization is driven only by a deep and unwavering commitment to truly helping others achieve greatness. Whether by providing financial support to struggling churches or sponsoring educational programs for church members, this lay organization embodies all that is best about AME and its mission to uplift and inspire others. In short, it truly serves as a vital force for good within the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and in our communities. So, if you believe that we can build a better future together, feel free to join the work of the AME Lay Organization.

Music Ministry

There is nothing quite like the feeling of singing praises to the Lord with a group of fellow believers. The joy and unity that comes from joining together in song is a special experience that can only be found in the church. As we lift our voices in harmony, we are reminded of the power of God and His ability to work through us. The songs we sing are more than just words on a page; they are declarations of our faith and our trust in God. When we sing, we are proclaiming His goodness and His mercy, and reminding ourselves that He is always with us. In the midst of trials and difficulties, singing the songs of the Lord can help to remind us of His goodness and His promises. It can give us hope when we feel like all hope is lost. So let us never forget the importance of singing the songs of the Lord, for they have the power to change our lives. Please join a choir today and begin sharing the gospel thru singing.

However, women’s Bible study is one avenue through which we can more deeply explore our faith and grow in our relationship with God. So whether you’re new on this journey or a seasoned believer looking for new inspiration and perspective, I encourage you to join this women’s Bible study today and start living joyfully in His light.
